Fait Accompli?
Reading the PR material that Gavin Anderson produces for the Club at the direction of management, one could be forgiven for thinking that the move to Takanawa is a fait accompli. We know, however, that this is not the case and it must be voted on by the membership.
What are your views on the move? Can we really afford such an extravagant luxury? Will it bring TAC down?

I believe that as far as management is concerned it is a fait accompli.
Management has been given the task of implementation and Gavin Anderson is being paid Yen 1 million per month to deal with the minor potenetial irritant of member resistance.
The right spin will ensure that the usual member indifference wins the day.
After all...a total of just over 300 votes out of a membership of over 3,000 can see this thing over the line.
The bigger question is...what happens if there is no quorum (approx 600)?
I, for one, would like to see some 'worst case scenarios' in addition to the glossy presentations we have seen so far.
This project has the potential to go spectacularly wrong given the complexity, financial committments to Azabu Towers and sheer number of zeros involved.
Once the club is lured out of the current site and on to land owned and operated by one of the largest business conglomerates in Japan, it is a sitting duck with a very uncertain revenue stream.
Regardless of what promises have been made, the priority of the developer is to build and sell the condos. The longer they can drag out the rest of the project and/or friustrate the operation of the temporary club, the more likely that they will end up with all the land and the naming rights and ownership of the re-developed club, we the members thought we were going to own.
Time, financial might and business smarts is on their side.
It is hardly a fair fight but most of those involved on the club side cannot see that from their sheltered workshop. The view is blocked by ego and naivety.
Why are we paying yen 1 million per month to gavin Anderson to present propoganda to ourselves?
Not logical..
If the facts speak for themselves let them speak.... I am all ears.
